Add Info (9/9/06): Visit to The American Museum in Britain.
'American Museum Britain Claverton Manor'
You won't find any razzamatazz here. This is a quiet, thoughtful, cultural museum, showing a very different view of America.
On arriving the temptation is to follow the path up to the house. Early visitors can enjoy a very private viewing of fine lush gardens set in stunning countryside.
Unfortunately when the lift was put into the house, extensive damp was found in the basement, causing remedial work and a few rooms to be closed. These will reopen next year, but can be spotted in the bargain priced beautifully photographed guide.
Rooms tend to be time-line or location themed. All presented very well with knowlegeable staff. Very surprisingly we didn't find any American's anywhere!!
The big problem is the location. If you can think of any way of getting there without going through the historic town of Bath(especially now the Roman Baths have reopened) then follow it!!
