I am trying to trace relatives in Australia with the surname Stacey or Land, or related to the Stacey family. My connection is as follows. I have letter from a Harry Stacey from Merthyr Road, New Farm, Brisbane dated Oct 1913 to his Aunt Hannah Stacey, and one from his elder sister Sophia Land, from Post Office Hotel, Cunnamulla, dated Nov 1913. There is a lot of family information in the letters, and the best I can make of it is as follows: A brother-in-law of my g-grandmother, Hannah Laura Stacey (nee Allpress, born c1858)) seems to have emigarted to Australia. Hannah's husband was Harry Stacey (born Chelsea, Middlesex c1843), son of John William Stacey (born Chelsea., Middlesex c1799). This brother-in-law seems to have had several children - including Harry, Sophia, Jack, Harriet and Tom Stacey. Of these children, Harry had several children, including Joyce Kathleen, Tom had a son called Harry who worked in China, Sophia married a man called Edward Martin Land in 1891 and had 6 girls and one boy; the boy, William Martin Land had a business in Cunnamulla; one of the girls, Grace Land, married a man called Jones and lived in South Toowong, Brisbane. I know this is somewhat confusing, but if any opf these names mean anything to you, please do get in touch! Thank you, and happy hunting! Jill

Hi again,
I couldn't resist replying to your message, Ann Land from Devizes here! (Brinkworth connection) My husband seems to have descended from a Richard Land who was born on the coast of Botany Bay c.1821, which he say's is off Australia! All of his family after this lived near Tiverton/Bampton, although this was Richards birth place he lived in this area of the uk. He would have been my husbands Gt Gt Grandfather!
What a small world! Hope you, mum and your family are well?
Ann.
