I am trying to locate any details of a William Benjamin Lowes, who is believed to have been born in the Deptford/Bermondsey area of London in c1878. He was the son of a George Thomas Lowes (who came from Tynemouth in the North-east) and Isabella Lowes. When growing up they lived in Rolls Road, Bermondsey, and later in his life lived in a Rochford Street (now no longer exists) in the Kentish Town/Camden/St Pancras area of London. William served in the Royal Engineers as a Sappa in WW1. He died in 1962. He married an Alice Elizabeth WRIGHT. Their children included an Ada Dorothy Lowes (my grandmother). There is believed to be a possible Welsh connection with William, in that he may have served or lived there at some point. Any info would be great - thanks. |
