I am searching for descendants of my paternal grandparents and have the following information: My grandfather: William Hanna Magowan (McGowan), a farmer, lived at Ballyfotherly, Donaghdee, County Down, Northern Ireland. Born circa 1850, died Oct. 9, 1912 & is buried in the “family burying ground”, Bangor. My grandmother: Julia Mulholland Magowan, born circa 1850, died Sept. 24, 1931 & is buried in Abbey Cemetery, Bangor. Their children: (1) William (Willie) b circa 1878 (wife: Annie?) Inherited the family farm (2) Robert- b circa1882 (3) Thomas- b circa 1884 (4) John- b circa 1886 (5) George- b circa 1888 & died Dec 4, 1918 (wife: Ellen?) (6) Julia Magowan Cunningham - b circa 1890 -- her children?: Elizabeth Cunningham Johnson, Willie, Bob, Joe, Julia and Mary (who died Aug. 31, 1958 and had a “mute” daughter [name unknown] who was age 15 in 1958.) Children known to have immigrated to the USA (7) Alexander – born Feb 7, 1895 & died March 1971 (8) Elizabeth Julia Magowan Jeffers – born Feb 11, 1880 & died Dec 23, 1940 (9) Edward (my father) – born Oct 11, 1891 & died Jan 22, 1959. He arrived at Ellis Island Aug 6, 1922 on the ship Assyria. He had two daughters: Julia Magowan Hardy and myself: Johanna Magowan Timashenka Julia Mulholland Magowan & Julia Cunningham may have moved to Dromara,-- George Magowan to Bangor -- & William or his son to Donaghdee We have been searching, unsuccessfully, for many years, so any information would be GREATLY appreciated. Now that I'm getting up in years, it is more important than ever to find my cousins or their families. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that GR members will have the answer. Thanks for reading!!!
