I am having cancer surgery monday I still have not met my paternal family. If anyone knows a Patrick or James Mcdonagh who had 2 little girls in 67/69 in London, or someone who falsely signed the birth certificates as a favour for someone please get in touch.
we're not bothered about the falsification (if there was one)
I just want a chance to find out who I really am before its too late.

I wish you luck in both situations

put the thread up again but word it differently
it doesnt say who you are looking for at the beginning
people need to see the names and they might be able to look on the electoral roll for them

good luck

If you give more details, where born in London, etc, and what you do know, could be more helpful.
Hope you have some good luck in your search.

As I understand the info ... the children were registered under the surname of their mother, who wasn't married, and the father's name was added to the record -- but the name might not have been the real father. Perhaps as James McDonagh in one case and Patrick McDonagh in the other?

I wonder whether this person in old phone books might be a candidate:

Name: James P McDonagh
Address: 217 Munster Rd Sw6
Exchange: 01-385
City/Town: Fulham
Directory Title: London Surnames L - R
Publication Year: 1979
Directory County: London
Page Number: 164

Name: James P McDonagh
Address: 11f Peabody est Lillie Rd Sw6...
Exchange: 01-385
City/Town: Fulham
Directory Title: London Surnames L - R
Publication Year: 1983
Directory County: London
Page Number: 168

I imagine you've tried, at some time, calling all the Patrick McDonaghs and James McDonaghs in the current phone book ...

Of course there are scads of other Js and Ps and PJs in the old listings, so that one's a very long shot. Some more details of the place(s) of birth might indeed help. Not that one wants to be pestering someone in your difficult situation, Caroline, but I've seen that a load of people here will be very ready to do what they can if pointed in some direction they can start to work with. I'll bet somebody'd be happy to go bang on a door if they knew of a door to try banging on. ;) (Me, I'm on the other side of the Atlantic, so I'll have to say I would if I could, but this time I can't!)

Caroline. Can't help yoi
u with your search, but I wish you well for your surgery. I had cancer surgery 18mths ago, adn have undergone much streatment since. I will be thinking of you, and God speed your recovery. I hope you find your family soon, as my cousin has been seeking his birthparents for many years without sucess. Keep positive, although it isn't always possible to feel it! xxxxxx
