I’m looking for men and women with the last name Meek, Meeks, Meeke, Meak, Meke, Meik, Meake to join the Meek/Meeks dna project. If you participate, you will be able to help yourself and other Meeks to learn more about their genealogy & ancestry. We have about 60 participants so far. DNA TEST encompasses many different things. Genealogical dna testing for men uses certain non-coding portions (junk DNA) of the Y-DNA string. Genealogical dna testing for women uses mitochondrial dna. Neither test reveals any personal characteristic or medical information about you or your ancestors. What you get when tested: 1) You learn which haplogroup you belong to, which will relate you ethnically and geographically to which early human line you descend from. 2) You will learn your haplotype (marker) values, which can be used to identify who you are related to and how closely. 3) You will get our help to interpret the results and help you find your ancestors and relatives. 4) FTDNA, the company we use for testing, will send you a certificate and depending on the test, a four to five page report explaining the results. The Meek(s) Web page is at http://members.aol.com/genealogymeek/DNA/MeekFamily.htm The FTDNA web page is at: http://www.familytreedna.com/default.aspx To sign up, go to: http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=N40803&special=true If you are interested, I encourage you to look at these web pages and sub-folders for details of what you will learn and the test cost. If you have any questions or want more information, please let me know. For the first male that responds with last name Meek or variant and born in England, Scotland, or Wales, your test is free.
