I was born in 1963 and my branch of the Melville family came from Tayside. My Great Grandfather was Christopher Melville who owned a Lemonade Factory there. He had 5 children, of which one was my grandfather was James (Jim) Melville and he has one surviving sister - Isobel - who still lives in the family home in Tayport. My father (James Forbes Haining Melville - known as Forbes) lives in Dorset with my mother (Melody or Win). His brother, Graham Christopher, sadly died a few years ago - mercifully quickly for him and quite unexpected to those he left behind. My father (Forbes) knows all the history of his family and I would be more than happy to get in contact with any Melvilles who are interested in us. I have a very large family tree (currently residing in the attic) but given the right incentive would be happy to unearth it. Catherine Joy Cleavin (nee Melville) - known as Cathy! I live in Southampton with my family |

My greatgrandfather was Alexander Melville. He was the illegitimate son of Mary Melville and was born in the year 1881 in Fife. He ran a successful Haulage company and also owned Pluckerstone Farm by Kirriemuir. He died 2nd February 1953 when I was just seven years old. My grandmother Jessie-Ann then ran the business along with my father and two other sons very successfully. She died about 1972. |
