Information on death of Alfred Platt

I am trying to find information about Alfred Platt born c1892.

Family story is that Alfred worked either for the railways or the Railway Union. He died we think in 1945 and he had a big funeral in the Islington area with horse drawn hearse and the Union flag drapped over his coffin.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find out more info unfortunately all surviving relatives have very vague memories

do you know if Alfred was always in the Islington area and who he married as have found a Alfred Frank Platt born 1887

Alfred always lived in Islington and as far I know he never married.

Thanks for the info on 1901 Census however I have all this information as I have traced my Platt Line back to 1680, what I need help on is Alfred Platt death - ideas on how to find out circumstances of his death etc. I actually do not know when he died but think it may have been in the 1940's however it could have been the 20's or the 30's
