Trying to find Poll

I'm looking for any information relating to my great-grandparents ROBERT POLL & ANNIE POLL (nee STAPLEFORD) who, for some unknown reason allowed themselves to be known as ROBERT & ANNIE BROWN! Annie would possibly have been born around 1875/76 and I think she died in 1960. They had 7 children - NELLIE BROWN (b.1897 in Helmsdon, Northants, d.1994), HARRY BROWN & ROBERT BROWN and HERBERT POLL (b.1905 in North Manchester, d.1990), WALTER POLL and FRANK & ALBERT POLL (twins). All the children were brought up as BROWN but, whilst the eldest 3 are registered as BROWN, the youngest 4 were actually registered as POLL...and none of these children know why!! We have found evidence of an ISHMAEL POLL (NELLIE had a photo of his grave(!) which we later found in a cemetery in North Manchester & I think she may have referred to him as uncle) but we have no other knowledge of any family beyond ROBERT & ANNIE. I hope someone out there can help to solve the family mystery! |
