I am doing some family history research on the Sands family of Salford (my grandmother's father and grandfather). My grandmother was born Alice May Sands (Hicks), 1892 - 1971. Her father was Thomas Sands (abt 1850 - abt 1930) and his father was James Sands (abt 1830 - abt 1900). Alice was born in Tatton St Salford. Thomas was living at Caton St Hulme in 1871, Tatton St in 1892 and New River St Weaste in 1915. James was also living at Caton St Hulme in 1871. My great uncle George W Sands was mayor of Salford in 1936. Another great uncle Charles Aveling Sands ran a music shop at 68 Trafford Road Salford. Any information would be super.
