Any information about a Mr E.Saunders who was living in Coleridge Street,Hove,Sussex during 1965.He was born early 1900's and attended Ellen Street school,Hove. He could be a relative of mine.

My Grandad lived in the Sussex area around that time. I am trying to trace family. He was married to a Doreen and had a son leonard. He also had 2 children from a previous marriage. His name was ernest. Could this be the man you are looking for.

Hi Ellen,
Thanks for replying.
I am trying to find out about my father's family and it's like looking for a needle in a haystack!!
My father was Herbert George Saunders born 1900 His father, also called Herbert, born 1876 London, was a bootmaker and had a bootmakers shop in Cowper street,Hove.I know that his father was called WilliamSaunders a boot repairer born about 1840.s and then I come to a complete standstill.
One clue that I had was a letter from an E.Saunders to the Evening argus newspaper, along with a school photo of himself stating that he went to Ellen Rd school. It was in amongst Dad's sister Lucy's papers when she died.
I gathered that he must be a relation, possbly a cousin of theirs but I am not sure..
I would love to know the name of my maternal grandmother etc but I am beginning to think that Grandad Saunders'birth was never registered or that his mother wasn't married when he was born so would possibly be registered under his mother's maiden name.
If you do find a connection,I would love to know,
Kind regards
Diane
