Peter Report 26 Oct 2004 19:12

My G Grandmother was born Elizabeth Kingsbury SEMMENS b 1874. Her mother was Rebecca GOOCH b 1845. Her father was John SEMMENS b 1839. All three are believed to have been born in Goldhanger, Maldon, Essex, but I have, as yet, been unable to track down any birth records for any of them. (not apparently on FreeBMD or 1837online) Elizabeth had 3 siblings, taken from the 1881 census on the LDS site where the family name appears to have been miss-transcribed as SIMMONS (Address 35 Albion St Deptford St Paul, Kent England PRO ref RG11 Piece/folio 0707/56 Pg 35) The following information is supplemented by my late mother's notes. Mary Jane b.? married cousin William SEMMENS John b. 1870 married Emma ? Maud b. 1876 married twice -   (1) John ? killed in 1914/18 war -children Dolly & Johnny   (2) Bob MISSEN (Docker) - sons Bobby & Charlie Rebecca died in 1881 in Greenwich Kent (smallpox). John in 1901 in Croydon - was a well borer, had "industrial" accident and died in an asylum. And Elizabeth in 1945 in Lewisham. Elizabeth married Henry Wright AYLING in 1892 and they lived in Rotherhithe (then Surrey). The name Kingsbury seems to be associated with the Gooch family as I have found someone on another site looking for "Rebecca Kingsbury Gooch" from Westhanger (?) http://genforum.genealogy.com/gooch/
