I am trying to find some information out regarding my grandfather's brother, Richard Slater. Richard was born in Sheffield in 1893 to Thomas Slater and Lavinia Crookes. He married a Lily Baker in Lincoln in 1918 and is listed on the marriage certificate as being in the army this no doubt being the reason for the move from Sheffield. This is about as far as I know about him though my mother seems to think that he then joined the police force and took up residence in the Scunthorpe area. My grandfather seemed either unwilling or unable to give much information about his brother though there was a 15 year gap between them, he probably didn't know him all that well!
