Trying to find Stanley

Hi, hope someone can help. My great grandfather was called Alfred Stanley and he was born in Ryde, Isle of Wight in 1893. His father was Arthur Stanley who worked in South Africa as a mining engineer where he met his wife Martha (nee Tasker). Their children were Marion, Arthur, Alfred, Evelyn and Marguerite. They left SA about 1891 and moved to London then Isle of Wight. On the 1901 census there was also a Maria Knott mentioned as sister-in-lw to Martha. My gran thinks maybe her grandfather was Arthur Stanley Knott and the Knott may have been dropped? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Many thanx, Anna |
