Thanks Brenda I don't think any of these are possible as my husband was lodging with a close friend of Joans at this time, so I feel sure he would have been told as you say she may have remarried or still be living which would be wonderful.

Other than for permission for minors to marry, I don't think documentation was ever required.
I have someone in my tree who knocked 10 years off his age in 1908 when he married for the 3rd time, presumably to make his age nearer to his wife.
The myth was perpetuated when her family recorded his death.

Sorry guys my apologies I just read Newbies and realized I was supposed to reply via the board.
I think that Donald may have been born in 1907 as his age on the marriage certificate was 51yrs but is it correct? what do you need to produce in the way of documentation prior to getting married? I can't remember it was such a long time ago

This is the correct marriage but not sure on if it was her last, I have no idea if this death was the right Donald, I have put a message in the local paper but so far no luck.

Maybe you could send a brief request for news to a newspaper in the Soham area asking for help from anyone who knew her.

Hi Margaret

I managed to find a Joan Nichols who married a Donold Thomas Wright in apr-june 1958 in the district of Cambridge, I assume Nichols is another married name. I know a Joan Wright born 1913 did not die between 1984-2005. Is Donald the last man she married or was she married again.

Regards

Mark Davis

I am trying to trace my husbands mother, her maiden name was Riordan [or O'Riordan] she was born in Cork Ireland in 1913 and married several times in England. Could be that she has passed on, the last known address was in Soham Cambridgeshire where she lived with her husband Donald Thomas Wright to whom she was married in 1958,I have no idea where to start looking so would really appreciate some help
