Hi all

I have just found this entry on microfilm at the library this morning It is very faded and it does not state what the entry is for. I am assuming it is a baptism.

Margaretta Trigger alias Bruner Spuria Franciscoe Trigger et Hugonis Bruner de Persall.

Many thanks

Hi Soph

et i think means of and marriages are normally listed with the male name first so I am thinking it is an illegitimate child. mother Francis Trigger and father Hugo Bruner of Persall.

This is the meaning of the English word "spurious", so I would think "spuria" menas the same (no. 2):-

1. Lacking authenticity or validity in essence or origin; not genuine; false.

2. Of illegitimate birth.

3. Botany. Similar in appearance but unlike in structure or function. Used of plant parts.

I think Juelz is right.

Hi Kath

Thanks for the info. I can not find my dictionary and when I googled it just came up with the botany side of things.
