My paternal great great grandmother was Elizabeth Lower, from her marriage certficate to Alexander Bonallie Sunderland 12/2/1844 I know her father was Robert Lower. I know Elizabeth died 1876 aged 64 in Sunderland making her birth c1812 and from census retuns her birth is either Berwick Northumberland or Sunderland, but I cannot find her in the IGI or any clues to her birth, mother, siblings etc so any info would be a big help.

Hi Judith

Many thanks for your reply. I've been told before that the my side of the Bonallie family have a connection with the Franciosy family through Mary Levy, and the Franciosy family were ice cream sellers, but it's the first time I've heard of one of our family having an ice cream shop. My side of the family comes down from Robert Bonallie son of Alexander and Elizabeth, the rest of the family descend from Alexander's son Alexander, there was another son William but he seems to have disappared after the 1861 census, as Sunderland BMD still haven't sorted out their births and deaths yet, it's very hard to find a lot of info about the family through the IGI .
