Find Ancestors

I put a request for help on tonight and a member seemed to get annoyed because I took a few mins to put an answer on. I appologize for this but I do care for my Husband and cannot always get straight back. I am sorry if me taking a few minutes to get back to people offends but I am afraid my Husband comes first.

If you would rather I did not put messages on for help then just let me know and I won't but I will still help people when I can.

How about putting a line at the bottom saying you are likely to get called at any time but you will get back later?

Its not you who should be apologising, its the individual who was rude to you!

Plenty of people happy to help who realise that the person asking for help may not actually be superglued to the pc and may just may be away doing something else for a while

I have just returned to GR after years away! I posted a request for my
FAIR(E)Y surname rather late at night, and returned next morning to find sheets of rude comments firstly about the surname and then about my lack of reply.

I was very upset and left GR. Several people wrote to me privately later and told me that the instigator had admitted to being drunk!

PLEASE remember everyone that some of us are in a different time zone and we do have to sleep!

I too look after a disabled person and do what I can when I can! Family history keeps me alert and sane but I don't need people with problems giving me hard time!

Thank you to everyone who have replied. I have had a pm from the person concerned to apologise. It is the first time it has happened to me, I have been a member of Gene's for years and have had a lot of help. I have also given help when I can. I know some people do not reply at all but I think we have all got to remember that there are a lot of people that cannot be sat at a computer all the time and as someone else commented there are people from all over the world so time zones have to be taken into consideration.

Alright people might say, if we can't stay and answer then we should not put questions on until we can stay at the computer. I know in my case I would never be able to ask for help and stay at the computer and I am sure there are a lot of people like me.

What I would like to say is, if you ask for help please at least acknowledge the people who have helped you and to the people who help please give the people you are helping the chance to acknowledge you and answer any questions you have asked.
