Hi Brian and many thanks. I found that marriage and ordered the certificate but as I said in my reply to Kirsty the address was different, I know this doesn't mean it's not them but I have no way of knowing if it is! Thanks for those other dates, I'll see if I can make a connection, cheers

Hi Kirsty, thanks for your reply. My father was born 1930 and yes this gives me some idea of when his parents married, I did order a marriage certificate but the address didn't match with the address on my fathers birth certificate. I ordered his army records but this didn't tell me anything at all about his parents but it did state that he had a brother but again I don't have his name or dob. He also had a sister but they never kept in contact, I have no dates for her either! All I know are his parents names and where they were living when he was born, many thanks,

Ann

Hi Ann

This is your starting point.

Charles CRANE married Margaret DELANEY
July Aug Sep 1929 West Derby (Liverpool)
page 8b volume 1205.

To find out what thier parents were called you will need the marriage certificate.

Too many in the 1901 census if they were born prior to 1901 to say which they were.

Had a look for possible deaths for you during the Korean war, 1950 - 1953. Found 2 possibles in the Liverpool area. one was 81 yrs old, too old, the other was:
Margaret CRANE 59 yrs Liverpool 1951 Jan Feb Mar. page 10d volume 854. So this lady was born c1892.
The marriage certificate would give you her age and some idea if this could be her death registration record.

Hope this starts you off.

Regards

Brian

Hi,
This really is a long shot, I'm trying to find a lead on my Grandmother Margaret Delaney but I've no idea where or when she was born. I know she married Charles Crane but again I've no idea when or where, I seem to recall being told that she died when my father was in Korea, other than that I'm at a standstill, is it just a matter of ordering birth/marriage/death certificates on the off chance and how do I order them anyway without definate dates?! any help or advice much appreciated, thanks
