Hi Robert
There aren't many wonderfully efficient sites in SA, well nothing in comparison with the UK anyway.
We have an Ancestry24.co.za with fairly limited info but they do have a section reflecting contact emails and addresses for various sites, including the Archives. You would have to know in which province your ancestor/s lived and the problem there is that we now have 9 provinces as opposed to the original 4. I subscribe to Ancestry24 so if I could help in doing a search for you please contact me on [email protected].

There was another thread dealing with this issue recently. If you put "South Africa" in the search box you will find one called "Records in South Africa". I gave some ideas, and there were also references to useful websites posted.
