I am trying to order a Birth Certificate but am not having much luck getting the right one and i was wondering if anyone can help me.

The person I am looking for is Thomas Ward, father James Ward and Mother Mary. On the 1891 Census he is aged 13 born in Birmingham and on the 1881 Census he is aged 3 born in Birmingham.

I have just received Dec 1877 Aston 6d 355 and Dec 1878 Aston 6d 271 and neither are my Thomas Ward.

Please can anyone help

Thanks, I will try those ones. At £7 a try it adds up when you keep getting the wrong one.

Alison

There is an option when ordering certs to put in a checking reference. It looks like you know the father's name.

If you put this in as a checking reference they will only send you the certificate if the father's name of the certificate matches your checking reference.

If you request a certificate with a checking point and it appears your request does not match then they refund some of your money.

Not sure I have explained it very well

Thanks Karen. I always wondered why there was a checking reference and I did not know that they refunded some of the money.

Alison they will refund £4 if you put a checking reference such as father's & mother's
first name.

I have done this a couple of times when I have been unsure, Jennifer
