I have my mothers birth certificate which states her fathers name, Thomas Gibson and his profession as professional soldier. I have an army number. The certificate is 1940. Where would I go to look for information on my maternal grandfather. He left when she was 3 and her birth certificate is all we have about him. Many thanks
