The next problem you have is that his service records may not have survived. If they are available they are likely to be at the National Archive in Kew. Check out the National Archive website for details of the type of records they hold.

HI Pete thanks he didn,t have a middle name .......the last one left is the best possible match......GARY........P.S. it,s not easy any of this is it..........

So you can eliminate the first and last ones. Leaving:

Medal card of Darch, Charles L
Corps: Gloucestershire Regiment
Regiment No: 31200
Rank: Private

Medal card of Darch, Charles
Corps: Royal Garrison Artillery
Regiment No: 91744
Rank: Gunner

Now if you are confident about the lack of a second name then Charles L DARCH is unlikely.

Hello Gary, you would try to get a LSD film to look up. Most of WWI documents were destroyed by WWII bombs. I have my great grandfather's WWI records that were survived.

You would loan a microfilm and print some records for few dollars/pounds.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/printing/titledetailsprint.asp?titleno=3799&first=5501&last=5600

Box D-139 Darbyshire, John Thomas to Darbyshire, William; Box D-140 Darbyshire, William to Darch, Joseph - VAULT BRITISH Film [ 2081348 ]

You would order LSD film number at above from your genealogy club or LSD church in your area. It will take for few weeks.

Cheers, Steven from Australia.
