Mar is march quarter and is for all records from 1st Jan to 31st Mar.

It is the date when the event was registered. As you have a few weeks to register births it can come in the next quarter.

Hi.
Could I please ask what may seem a daft question to some, but on free BMD where the quaters are listed i.e. Mar, June,Sept and Dec is this the date of the actual event OR when the event was registered.
