Yes thats him reggie.. thanks for helping mista ;o) .. The ages are usually out but more importantly the spelling of the names can be real shocking cant they.. Ive come across the plaskett name being ; plachet, phlasket, plaskit etc... and this is all for the same bloke ... The address on the 1861 was completely read wrong wasnt it. Mind you it makes for interesting investigating.. If it was too easy we would get bored wouldnt we lol.. Im loving all this family tree stuff. How addictive is it. .. Ive worked back as far as i can go with years.. (parish stuff next for those me thinks) and now im working forward again and filling in the families etc.. Brilliant !.. Thanks again reggie and girls for the workhouse info.. regards Rachel.. xXx

1861 looks OK for your chap.........the age is a bit 'out', but that's nothing unusual.

The image shows the birthplace more clearly.........the transcription is at fault in this instance.

Sorry Reg i think thats the wrong bloke.. The one in 1861 is almost definately him. I think i was getting the year mixed up. 1871 is correct too. In that case ive lost him in 1851 aswell as 1891!! ..He was definately born in bromyard herefordshire area..

In 1851 it says sculcoates but his birth place is different. But in 1861 its says nether hallam? residence(thats where he is in the regiment. ) again his birth place is spelt wrong but its him...
Thanks everyone for helping xXx i'll look at the workhouse stuff.. What a shame he was in there when he was 70..

If his wife was Irish, it is quite possible that he met and married her over there when on a posting.

This is where the records are kept for the Bromyard Workhouse:-

Herefordshire Record Office, Harold Street, Hereford HR1 2QX.

Holdings include: Guardians' minute books (1836-1930); Admissions and discharges (1840-1929); Casual vagrants' admissions (1911-12); Porter's admissions and discharges (1900-16); etc.

It looks as if they may have the admissions and discharges records for the time your ancestor was there.

Hello reggie ;o~).. I think i found him with his wife.. shes called `mary from waterford Ireland. His name changes so much through the census' its hard to keep track of the slippery moo.. He was unmarried in the army which was 61.. and married in 71 census living with this Mary one. The nly marriages i can find for those times are a Mary Cooper(is that irish?) in Alderbury or Mary Downe in Farnham?? what shall we go for lol ..

Hi all. Can anyone give me any information on Bromyard union workhouse please. Such as.. what was it ;o).. and is there any way of finding out how long george was there for?..
Here is the info so far.
George Plaskett 1835 Bromyard Herefordshire.. I can see him in the 1841 census living with family. Then again in1851 lodging in Yorkshire. 1861 he's a private 58th regiment of foot ? (could anyone also tell me what army this was please.. I know i sound thick so bare with me lol)..
Then he seems to disappear for the 1891 census and reappear in the workhouse in 1901.. could he have been in there during the 1891 census do you think? .. any suggestions would be great.. Thankyou Rachel xXx
