further to Sylvia's message,you can reach the GRO by clicking "Search Records"on Genes Reunited.Down left hand side "what are records"will take you to GRO.follow the links on "ordering certificates"and quote the reference details Sylvia gave you.I have already done this successfully 3 or 4 times.Good Luck.

Marriage registration


Surname has been transcribed as Owens

Marriages Dec 1885 (>99%)

LEWIS Eugenie Alexandra Bethnal Green 1c 446
Owens Arthur Bethnal Green 1c 446




Still .... get one of the children's birth certificates to prove this is the right couple

Hi Donna

I've looked on www.freebmd.org.uk, which is the place to search for all births marriage and death certificates from September 1837 to ca 1930 or 25 . they will catch up to the present day soon.


I could't find the marriage, but here is Maud's birth certificate


Births Dec 1894 (>99%)

OWERS Maud Bethnal G. 1c 248


If you send off for this, you will find mother's maiden name

go to www.gro.gov.uk, click on Ordering Ceritifcates Online and follow instructions.


Each certificate will cost £7

Hello, i am trying to find the maiden nameof my great great grandmother, she was born around 1865 in the aldgate area of london, she married Arthur Owers and was living in bethnal green in 1901, her name was eugenie and they had six children, Annie,Minnie,Lillie,Maud,Frederick and my great grandfather Albert.
I would be grateful for any info on this lady as i have drawn a blank.
