I am searching for information on my grandfather James French born in 1899 possibly in Newcastle. His marriage certificate gives his father's name as William French, Ship's Painter but I can't find them in the 1901 census. It was thought in the family that he may have been illegitimate and his mother may have been a music hall performer. We have photos of a music hall act called Witty and Whyse but dont know what the connection is. Any information would be wonderful. |
