Nichola,

Just another thought on the name I have an ancesor Janet Stewart of Scotland born early c1800 and she is later listed in Australia as a Jessie and I have been told that this was also another common name swap with Janet.

Janet/Jessie

Good Luck

Mabel.

Mac is more common in Scotland for the Donalds. Some say that Mc is the Irish equivalent of Mac, but I'm not sure.

Search engines sometimes treat them as identical, depends on the site.

any connection?
The t may have been missed off the end of her name in transcribing.

Thanks Maureen,

I didn't know that Alistair, thanks for that, my surname is Mcdonald, would you happen to know if Macdonald is the same then, as no searches ever seem to bring up Mcdonald it always has the Mac not the Mc

thanks

The names Jane and Jean were quite interchangeable in Scotland, in those days, if that helps.

Thank you ever so much for taking the time to look for me.

Have no idea with her, with her being a lady Mcdonald thought it would be simple, but its not.

Looks like the end of the road for me and Jane,

cheers and thanks again

Thank you.

Not sure if this is possible and it will and is a long shot.

I have a Jane Mcdonald, assume she was born with this name and not married into a family first.

It states her name is Lady Jane Mcdonald, Birth: About 1765 Banff, Banff, Scotland

For some strange reason she ends up in Staffordshire, have no idea why and have no idea why she ends up marrying a local man from there,
Marriage: 1787> <Ashley, Stafford, England

I have tried everything to get info on her, typed her name into google, searched sites with Macdonalds on etc, Nothing, can't find a single thing about her.
I know who she marries, her children, etc, but thats it.

I know it might be impossible but this is my last attempt to try and then I will have to close this one.

Thanks again for looking, helping, etc.
:-)
