Help please to find birth record on Ernest Henry C

I have an Ernest Henry Cooke m Hannah Loveday Partridge October 1905 in Devonport, Plymouth aged 21 father Henry Cooke also birth cert of daughter, also shown as Ernest Henry Cooke. I am unable to find his dob. Could he have been given a birth name of Henry Richard Cooke dob 1886 in Devonport, father Henry Cooke? I have tried to find if Henry Richard married to eliminate him but was not successful. The reason why I am wondering if it is the same man because his sister (and who she married) ties in with what is known in the family.

Any advise help or suggestions would be great as I am a bit stuck.

Are you just looking for his birth in Devonport? May be he was a sailor?

Hi Nicki, yes I am looking for his birth in Devonport and he was a sailor when he got married in 1905.

Hi Pete, this could be the man I am looking for. I have checked on freebmd and also Ancestry but can't find his birth registered. I have tried spelling the surname without the E and swapping christian names but no luck. Also checked on 1891 and1901 census but nothing doing.

Thanks for that Nicki but I was under the impression he was born in Plymouth.

This is a real puzzle. From the National Archives on the seamen would it confirm his address in Plymouth and/or parents names?
