I am looking for ROBERT ELLIOTT, born c1823 in Bideford, DEVON.

Possible parents: Samuel and Catherine [or Ann] Elliott.

Robert was a mason.

Is 1841 the earliest census?

Last bit first......yes.

There were earlier ones, but they are not of much use for research, and are not generally avaiable anyway.

Some bits of 1831 are accessible, but you'd have to google to find them

Hey Reg, I think it is!

I've got his wife and children on the 1861 but I couldn't find him.

Where was he a patient though?

The General Hospital

Do you have his marriage cert? It will confirm his father's details...............
