In 1911/12 Lily Joplin nee White left her husband and 2 little babies in Portsmouth and is thought to have gone off to Surbiton. She sent cards to her children from there, but very quickly stopped this. Her father Frederick White, a publican and colour mixer, advertised in the papers for her to return, but if she did return my mother Margaret Edith Joplin never heard of her again. My mother, then aged 5, was haunted by the disappearance of her mother until her death in 1990. For some reason Frederick cut my grandmother out of his will .I personally feel that the family know what happened to Lily and I would appreciate knowing, and knowing where she is buried.

Bert Joplin mother's maiden name White born at Mutford. Suffolk.
