Hi Reggie

Yep your right, Ann - had been in prison (1851) & is not on the family census in 1871? and no sign of her husband ??
(Her sister is also unmarried sister with 2 children? - dont know who the father is? or is she marries at all? )

If anyone can help find either Ann Orton (nee Steel's) death or re-marriage - or that of her husband, I would greatly appreciate any help.

I cannot find Ann Orton in 1871, so I think you need to start looking for her death...........or her husband's death, and a re-marriage for her.

I know that there is a connection between the Kilbys & the Ortons. At the moment, I am looking for children of the following:

Marriages Sep 1849
Orton James Leicester 15 163
Steel Ann Leicester 15 163

and know of 3 children so far :
Sarah c1852 Thomas c1856 & Elizabeth c1859

I am tracing the Kilby family from Leicester and have several 'loose' connections.

I have this marriage:
Marriages Sep 1849
Orton James Leicester 15 163
Steel Ann Leicester 15 163

and know of 3 children so far :
Sarah c1852 Thomas c1856 & Elizabeth c1859

Can anyone please help me find more, as I believe that there were other children born to James & Ann.
