Leonard Mattingley was born in the Dec Qtr of 1913 in the Fulham District. His Mother's maiden name is given as Russell.

Great I thought, Mattingley is not that common so I will easily find the marriage between Mattingley and Russell! Ha! No such luck.

I have looked on Free BMD under Mattingley, Mattingly and Matt* with spouse's surname Russell. And I have also looked through individual qtrs 1912 where it gives both names.

I am aware that the father and mother may not have married of course but if anyone can see something I cant or have any other ideas I would be grateful.

Sorry I should have said I looked both sides of 1913 for a marriage.

Shirley, I know not a thing more. I am doing this after talking to the Dolls House shopkeeper I was talking to this afternoon. Whilst my wife was doing whatever it is you women do in shops i was chatting to the shopkeeper and she was telling me she has often wondered about her family tree and in particular her Grandfather Leonard Mattingley. Other than he lived somewhere near Shepherds Bush she new nothing else!! Sooooooooooooo here I am! LOL

Julie that is interesting thank you. Looks like I am going to have to fork out for a birth cert and get the full names of the parents and see if that helps.

Reggie and Kathleen

Looks like you both wrote whilst I was writing the last missive! LOL

I bet that is the correct marriage thank you. Whilst I was clever enough to do a search on Matt* i never thought to include a wildcard for Russell!!!! So I wasnt that clever after all!!!! LOL

The birth cert will confirm if its the one I want.

Thank you ALL for your time and effort.
