Have a look at www.veteransagency.mod.uk That will give you some idea.

However if you get in touch with the people at the address below they will be able to advise you as to where to start. i know from experience that you need proof that you are next of kin if the person is deceased. My father had to write a letter for the search to commence for my grandfathers records.....sadly along with thousands of others they were destroyed during a bombing raid in WW2. Give them a call and they will explain how to go about it. Good Luck!

Hi

Can anyone give me any advise on where i can research ww2 military records.
My grandfather Ronald Bertram hackman 1926 served during ww2 and is said to have lied about his age to serve. I know he later went on to the navy as i have a photo of him in his uniform but as he didn't talk about it don't know where to start?

Can anyone please help?
