Hi

Is there any chance of a look-up in the army pension records for information sent to the Royal Hospital Chelsea(who dealt with the pensions) I've already looked on Ancestry, there are too many people with the same name to start there. I don't know which regiment he was in during WW1, but he was in the Boer war. I think he changed regiments. He received a pension until he died. If anyone can help, I have the reference number and date when the records were sent from the regiment headquarters to RHC, and his name and date of birth of course.

Thank you

Rosemary

Hi Rosemary,

Have you had a look at Kevin Asplin's site re Boer War and lots of other info regarding Army. It is worth having a look at. He also used to do research at Kew for a small fee. He researched my ggrandads military history and I was very pleased with the results.

I am waiting for him to reply to an e-mail from me, so will let you know more. As he is a serving soldier he is sometimes not in England.

I've looked several times at Kevin's site. I have copies of part of my grandfather's records. It's the pension record that I would like to see. We know he didn't get a pension from the Boer war, so he must have got it from WW1. I don't know how easy it would be without a regiment to go on though, even though I have the reference number for his pension.

Thanks Ann

Rosemary

In that case, if his record survives, it will be on Ancestry. The only WW1 pension info is with service records. There is a possiblility that his service records may still be at Kew, i.e. even though he got a pension he might have records in the other series still at Kew.
