Find Ancestors

Using FreeBMD I found a marriage reg. March 1907 for Cornelius Burgess in Portsmouth but no bride listed! in 1914 there is a Daisy Burgess joining Cornelius in USA. I am hoping that the bride is Daisy Gertrude Edwards (in which case the age of one child is wrong on passenger list) but have no proof - cannot find a marriage for her listed on FreeBMD - can anyone help me please?

There is no Daisy Edwards listed for that qtr, there is a Gertrude but it's in Redruth.

The image shows that the page number is mistranscribed
it should be vol 2b p 845 not page 945 as they have
back in a mo when I find her

There is no Daisy Edwards marrying in Portsmouth in that quarter on the complete Ancestry search.
I then went back to free bmd and looked for the marriages on that page number. the results were

Presumably Cornelius would be the missing male,so it looks like your guess is not correct

have checked all Daisys married in Portsmouth for that qtr of 1907. None with the same reference as Cornelius. Cert ref 2b 945.

how old are the children on the passenger list?

It is June 1914 and the mother Daisy is aged 24, children Daisy Annie aged 7, Cornelius Wm aged 5 and Dorothy Gladys aged 3 all from Portsmouth.

Only birth of Daisy I could find which could fit the bill was Daisy Gertrude Edwards b. 1899 in Botley, Hants.
The mother against the birth of a Dorothy Burgess listed (but was Dorothy M) was Edwards and the child would have been 18mths.

If Daisy was 24 in 1914, she was born earlier than 1899.....look for 1889/90

Cornelius Snr. Birth reg. Dec 1879 Portsea - surname then spelt Burges. All entries I have tried I have used both spellings

the quickest way to find out who he married is to buy Daisy(1907) birth cert.luckily the GRO doesn't seem to busy at the moment!

Selena - thank you - I know the father went ahead to USA in 1912 - so who she was staying with when she gave birth on IOW at this moment I cannot work out!

Checked it - mothers name Skelton but married to a George Burgess so looks as if I want to solve the puzzle get cert of either Daisy Jnr or Cornelius Jnr! Thanks to each and all for help and suggestiolns.
