Could anyone please find these two in the 1901 & 1891 census?
Both born Leicster c1874.

Ivy E Fowkes 1911 Apr-May-Jun Lutterworth Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire
John W Orton 1911 Apr-May-Jun Lutterworth Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire

Many thanks

Hi

Sorry, I know nothing about John W Orton at all except his birth c1874, Leicester.
(details from a 'relative' who told me of his marriage to Ivy).

If they got married in 1911 - then Ivy would have only been 17, but John would have been 37. (unless i was given the wrong date of birth for John - perhaps I should try to find his birth)?

Thanks Soph

Trying not to buy too many certs just now, but you are right.

As there are at least three John W Ortons on the 1901 census, do any of them come from Leicester and were born in 1874?. If so, can you pos look at the details for me please?

Many thanks

Hmm quite tricky!

I think perhaps finding details of John & Ivys children could help me here - as quite often the children were named after the parent/grandparents etc, so if their children turned out to be Harriet & James, we would know that it was the second one you found.

Co-incidently, I have another branch of the family that married into the Orton family and they were from Blaby - so the info yu found, could all turn out to be quite useful!
