Yes, go with your instincts and the proof you have.

I looked at a tree I was allowed to see on here last week, it's wrong, the woman in question was married and her sister was living with them. That was probably where the surname has taken from. Unfortunately, if you go back to the 1841 census and the marriage indexes, she is a half sister. The father of the woman in question had died, leaving her mother a widow, the step father was living with his parents. They married after 1841 and had more children.

If you are sure you are correct and have all the evidence to prove it, stick to your guns.

Hi all for a while now i have had a relation in my family tree which i now believe may be incorrect.
I have a William Maslin 1842 marrying a Elizabeth Plank b1839 married 1862 having children Jane 1862, Henry 1864, George 1864, susan 1869, hannah 1874, david 1876, Eliza 1878, and charles 1880. mum and dad william / elizabeth born devizes wiltshire and the children in london areas. However i have found a connection on this site and that lady has a different mother / wife to william and these children.
I dont know what is right or wrong here as im sure i have the right info. Any ideas or can anyone help in anyway?

thank you
