I knew that John married Sarah before 1841 from census reports but could not find a marriage date so you have definitely come up trumps for me!! I will definitely order a marriage certificate!! Jenna you are also correct about Samuel marrying Flora. Samuel and Flora were my husband's great great grandparents. My husband's uncle is convinced that the Ellis family originated from Ireland hence the need to trace much further back than John !!! At least the marriage certioficate will start me off again so a very BIG thank you!!! Maureen

	Go to Lancashire bmd. The 1839 marriage certificate could be ordered from there. However they show the marriage as being at Our Lady & St Nicholas and St Anne. If you get a copy of that, it should show the names of their fathers.

	Have you looked on Family search IGI. This shows a John Ellis baptised Liverpool St Nicholas on 27 October 1816, parents William Ellis and Anne. It also shows marriage for John Ellis and Sarah Jones again at St Nicholas on 29 September 1839. 1861 census shows Samuel as being born at Woolwich. Parish records seem to be the next step for you regarding John. Good luck.

Member Since: January 2005 Posts: 4 Send Message	John Ellis born C1817 Liverpool married to Sarah (possibly Jones) born C1817 Chester. They had a son Samuel Ellis born 1853 Kent, Chorlton or Woolwich. Looking for anyone who can share information especially regarding parents of John Ellis as I have hit a brick wall - bet you all know that feeling!!!
