Hi everyone, I was wondering can anyone help with the below please?
In 1901 Ellen Broughton, aged 75 (born c, 1826) is living with my ggg granddad John Smitheringale (1839-1915) in Middlesbrough. It states Ellen as being single and born in Lincolnshire. I was wondering could anyone find Ellen in earlier censuses please?
Also, John Smitheringale's wife was Amelia Broughton (c.1841-1890). She also used the names Emily and Mildred and Emelya was also used. She was born in Freiston in Lincolnshire and her father was James Broughton a labourer ... can anyone find her and her family in 1861, 1851 and 1841?
I believe Ellen and Amelia may be sisters or close relations ...

Just had a look at the 1901 census and Ellen Broughton is listed as a widow so perhaps sister-in-law rather than sister?

Just checked the 1901 census, Ellen is a widow and her occupation is a domestic housekeeper. Her place of birth is Freiston, Lincolnshire.
