Just looked at bmd there is a Henry Joseph born Birmingham in 1871. The 1901 census has him as 20, but this can't be right.

Any ideas about how the name De Roach may have been mispelt?

Thank you, I am aware that the 1881 census is free and I do use it.

The question I have over the age of Henry Joseph De Roach born 1871 the son of William and Sarah (Smith) is because the 1901 census has him as aged 20. While his son also Henry is aged 5. I rather think Henry's age should be 30 then this would tie up with the bmd record of 1871.

Yes I agree he did marry Martha Ensor.
