He is definitely not the stepson, I would imagine they just didn't know what to say.

Are you sure he is living with cousins in the 1881 census? It says he is the stepson to the head of household.

Hello All,

I am looking for Arthur Herbert Lagdon b. 1868 Stebbing, Essex. In 1881 he was orphamed and living with two young cousins in Stebbing. While I have traced the two cousins, there is no sign of Arthur after 1881.

Any info. would be gratefully received.
