	Hello, my ancestor John Obrien was born c. 1853 in Kurrachee, or a varient spelling, in East India. The 1911 census shows John born in this place with the notes 'Bombay Presidency'. I have searched for this place 'Kurrachee', but I can not find a reference for it. Is it a made up place? Also, what exactly does Bombay Presidencey mean? I feel somewhat ignorant on the subject; why was my relation born in India? His son was a ships carpenter in the merchant navy, and John was also at one time a ships carpenter but whether he travelled at sea, like his son who certainly did, is unknown. I know from John's marriage in the 1880s that his father Patrick O'Brien (deceased) was a ships carpenter also, but that would suggest Patrick's wife travelled with him? This would have to be for John to be born in 1853 in Kurrachee? Oh, I am a little confused! Any help?
