As you may know, one can buy BMDs thru the GRO or the local RO. Some local RO's have their indices online, and since the registers are organized differently from the GRO at the local level, their indices perforce contain different info.

Val's info is gotten via the blue bar above IGI search screen - select Advanced Search - Record Search pilot, then the "browse our collections" link. Her English marrs hit seems to imply that the marr was at the Dudley parish church (i.e., St Thomas's). However, we now know it was St James (which is also in the parish).

A few trees on Ancestry have Edwin married 3 times, he also has more children. None of them have him on the 1851 census though.

I really hope someone can help me fill in these gaps.
I have Samuel Pitt born 1848.
I am pretty sure he is the son of Edwin Pitt C1822 and Hannah (sometimes spelt with one N) Robinson C1826 both of Rowley Regis -but there's no sign of him until 1881 when he turns up in Hospital Street Walsall with a wife Isabelle Evans 1848 (sometimes spelt Isabella) and a son Edwin Pitt born 1871.
How can I fill the missing years and confirm his ancestry and if he has any brothers or sisters etc?
