Hello. My ancestor,John Spiller was born according to census records about 1777 in Yarcombe Devon.I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to check any records.I also want to see if there is a birth for a Henry Spiller born about 1776 in Yarcombe. There does seem to be alot of people called Spiller in that area so i appreceiate it may not be very clear. Thanks very much |

Thank you Mel. Many people on these web sites have my ancestor as John Spiller but i have information that he may actually be called Henry.Your list tells me that so far there is no one called John who was born about 1777 |

my ancestor married Susan.other people say her maiden name was Miller but i know Henry Spiller married a Susan Teed in 1810 in East Budleigh . My ancestors lived in Ottery St Mary and she says she came from East Budleigh so this is why i think they are a possibility |

Yes that is the family. The christian name is a problem because i cannot find a marriage for a John Spiller and someone called Susan in Devon. The only record i can find is a John Spiller and Susan Miller in Otterford, Somerset so in my mind this excludes them |

Thanks for your help Mel.The marriage of Henry and Susan Teed came from Devon records office so i know that to be correct .The only problem is that i am not 100% sure of who my ancestor is so i will keep on looking. i suppose i will need to double check Somerset records to see where this Susan Miller was born. If it was Somerset then i could exclude her and edge a little closer to an answear. Thanks again |

These are all children of John Spiller and Susanna. |

yes.Again it all comes back to what the mother`s maiden name is because if it is Teed then thousands of other people with trees on Ancestry have it wrong. i can`t quite prove it. i may have to get Devon records office to check how many John Spillers were born around 1777 in Yarcombe. If there is none then that helps me. We will just have to see. |
