Trying to find the father of Charles Miller born on Gibraltar in January 1851. Birth cerificate lists father as Charles and mother as Elizabeth. He died before his son was born and was listed as a Convent guard (guarding the seat of government on Gibraltar - so he may have been a soldier). ANY help would be a greatly appreciated as I am unable to progress further with this branch of my family - very frustrating! Thank you, Jo |

Thank you for all that excellent information, which confirms that this is the correct Charles Miller (born in Gibraltar 1851) and his descendents. Unfortunately it still leaves me unable to go further back to his father, which is where I have repeatedly been stalled in my research. Jo |

His marriage cert. will give the name and occupation of his father, have you searched on this site to see if anyone else is looking for the family - there are several possible matches for the children listed on the l90l census. |

Hi Liz, Thanks for your message. I have already posted a query on the surname board but have had no luck. Through contacts via Genes I have very thorough research and accurate dates for the Miller family down from Charles (1850). He is my gr..grandad. He returned to England as a child and appears in the 1861 census, listed as living in Bethanal Green with his mother who had remarried a John Voll and had subsequent children. Regards, Jo |
