Find Ancestors

Would be grateful of some help in finding the birth record of my Gt Grandfather John Bayliss. Family Search show him christened at Deerhurst Gloucester on 30 March 1856, parents Thomas & Rachael Bayliss.
Would it be possible that he could have been christened before being registered ? I found a birth record for a John Bayliss for 3rd Qtr 1856 at Tewkesbury Gloucester (Vol.6a Page 37).

I've 'hit a brick wall' so any help would be appreciated.

.............but, if John was baptised on the 30th March 1856, then this can't be the correct record as the birth should have been registered before this date, so the March birth looks more likely.

Yes this is him in 1861 census. If the 3rd Qtr 1856 birth registration is correct I found it unusual that he was christened in the March of thatt year.
The surname was often spelt with one S.

Can definitely rule out this one due to one of my living relatives unfortunately sending for the certificate. Incorrect parents on it.

Until 1875, there no penalties for not registering births.......his may not have been registered.

What info were you hoping it would give you?

As I have copies of bmd certificates for a lot my ancestors going back to 1840, his is one of the few remaining ones I'm trying to track down. However it may be that I will be unlucky with John.

So you've ruled out the 1856 birth on Glosbmd and freebmd?

Or did you even notice it?

Which record is that Victor?

It can't be the one I posted, which shows the MMN as Sherbourne, and fits with all the siblings, and the marriage of the parents...................
