Member Since: July 2007 Posts: 322 Send Message	That's interesting to read Jillian, I have so far researched back to John Copland, Norwich, 1786. marr to Frances Sampson. I know there are a lot of Copland's from Scotland, but so far no connection. Mike.

Might be of use if you need a surname variation.xJ Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College (part of the City University of New York) Aaron Copland was born in Brooklyn of Lithuanian Jewish descent, the last of five children, on November 14, 1900. Before emigrating from Russia to the United States, Copland's father, Harris Morris Copland, Anglicized his surname "Kaplan" to "Copland" while waiting in Scotland en route to America.[2] (from Wiki)
