Find Ancestors

I wonder if anyone has access to a CD for Mile End marriages in 1909?

I'm trying to trace the parents names and occupations of the marriage between:

John SIMMONDS
Mary Ann Elizabeth FORD

Qtr 1 1909 Mile End, London

I've tried hunting on Ancestry, but for some reason I'm not seeing any parish records for Mile End in 1909.

Of course I know I can purchase the marriage cert, however I'm trying to cut down on costs as I have just purchased 4 other GRO certs.

I have had a look at Ancestry with no success. I have also looked at freebmd and the records for this marriage seem to be incomplete. If you look for the marriage of John Simmonds, John is there but Mary Ann is not and likewise for Mary Ann Elizabeth if that makes any sense. I have found baptism records for a John Simmonds and Mary Ann Elizabeth Ford for Bethnal Green which could fit. I think your best bet will be buying certificates unless you can find another GR member who also has these people in their tree and have already purchased the certificates.

Dear All,

Thanks for your finds. The birth cert of one of their children - this is how I traced their names and was able to find their marriage in Qtr1 1909 on FreeBMD - states that John SIMMONDS was private 1st battalion royal fusiliers (fruit hawker). That's why I can't tell is the carman or wharf worker census info is them. It looks like I'm going to have to purchase the marriage cert to make sure I have the correct family and possible another birth cert for another one of their children. I have the one for Joseph Prince SIMMONDS 1916.

If the cert you bought was in WW1 years then he may well have been in the Forces then.
