I am still searching for Edgar Grainger Born 1897 brother to Jessie and Clifford. Edgar lost touch with his wife and son 1939. I had hoped he might have been mentioned in the will.....so still around/living in 1942 ?

Yes this is Edgar and Eveline's Marriage.Eveline died September 1983.
I son born to this marriage 1928 who still searches for his father.
No death certificate can be found for Edgar. SO no closure .

Thanks Holly. You don't sound prickly to me........

I had an earlier Thread Looking foe Edgar's Death Certificate and one could not be found. I don't know what became of Edgar who was my husbands father.........

Could you possibly look for a will/probate for Jessie Aston Born 1891
Died in Leeds.Yorkshire 1971.
Jessie was Edgar Grainger's sister.

At the moment probate on Ancestry only goes up to 1966, they have recently extended this date, it was 1941

you have to BUY the will to find out what was in it it.


Ancestry only says who was granted either Prbate or Administration ............. that does not mean that the ones named are the only ones in the will

They are the ones who have to do what the will directs.


There might be 10 people mentioned in the will, and the Administrators or the ones granded Probate have to make sure that each one gets what the deceased person wanted.



Please do not believe that you know exactly is in the will from those ancestry postings!

Have you researched WW2 records for Edgar??


My uncle was born in 1895, served in WW1 and was wounded ........ but was still eligible to be called up for WW2


could he have been a victim of a bomb?

Thank you for your advice. I will send for the will. I am clutching at straws..........

I just don't know what became of Edgar. I know that no Death Certificate can be found. in this country. Did he go abroad ? or perhaps ? he was killed in the London bombings ....
